Me and the Economy
I don't know, it just seems that folks are living under rocks. Or either nobody wants to talk about what's REALLY going on. Folks losing their jobs, their homes, cars, etc. But ain't nobody talking. Why is that? And why isn't the so called news media keeping folks abreast of the latest happenings? Do folks care about what's happening? Or as long as they still have THEIR home, then it's all good?
Why is everyone ignoring the pink elephant in the room?

Because there is no elephant. Cancer spreads quickly and with no warning, then it kills you. You don't wanna know, so there is no elephant.
What am I talking about?
Cancer: definition- is a class of diseases in which a group of 'cells' display uncontrolled growth (division beyond the normal limits like the deregulation of the free enterprise system), invasion (intrusion on and destruction of adjacent tissues, nee working class folk and industry), and sometimes metastasis (spread to other locations like overseas) methodically and quietly.
Why would you want to know if you were dying like that?

Brown blogger, I like your analogy but I have to differ. Like Aly, I do thing there is an elephant in the room...a HUGE one. While I am sure there are lots of people that wouldn't want to know if they were dying, I'm sure most of them knew or at least had a thought that they were sick in some shape, form, or fashion. That thought is the elephant and most folks are just trying to push that big sucka out of the way or cover it up. Out of sight, out of mind.

That's what I said.
The so-called powers that be have always distracted the masses from the problem. It's an easy thing to do.
Americans also don't want to believe that there is a problem, so we go along with the status quo. There is a real chance that we (not our kids who usually pay for this stuff) might live and die without being truly affected.
From being thrusted out of Europe to murder and genocide of the indigenous folk of pre US settlement to the slave trade, the establishment of foreign states to further US ideology to uncivil rights for many US born citizens to the rewrites of history to favor certain families, corporations and governmental figures all the way down to creating religion via nationalism, this is what they do... And the common folk will continue to forever go along with whatever is told to them is in their best interest.
This economic situation and all of the fall out (including the election of a polarizing, change-minded figure) has happened before, matter of fact a handful of times.
It is our job to remove ourselves from the matrix, realize what things are and go about doing what's best for ourselves and our families, but for most that is too difficult. Most of us are embedded via alumnus, fraternity, career, religion and/ or family. Loyalty, escapism and propaganda has more influence than the reality of things.
